I realize that this journal is mostly about rowing... and I am sorry for those of you who could care less... but this is rather significant to me.
Yesterday, we had the lineup emailed to us as usual for who will be in which boats (today). Vicky and I were scheduled to be on the land boats. To which, I almost called out because I was sooo very unmotivated to get up to erg, but went anyway because I want them to know I am serious, and of course, I need the practice no matter where it is. (not to mention, I was a little discouraged thinking that I am terrible and they won??™t even let me in a boat!!!) When we got there, they didn??™t have enough people for the quads??¦ so they put me in a quad SCULLING!!!!! (two oars instead of one) It was really amazing!!! I loved it and can completely see why Patri says it is a lot of fun. It is very difficult and technical??¦ and a completely different experience than sweep. It actually makes sweep seem so much easier ??“ go figure. I didn??™t do very well, but learned a TON!!! It was such a great experience. The ladies were so patient with me, and Jill kept telling me to relax (she was sitting in front of me) ??¦ she said she could feel my tension.
Totally fun!
Yesterday, when I went home to see if Wrigley was sick, he was completely fine. Should have just left well enough alone... although the peace of mind was worth it.
